When we bought Torrington
House in November 2002 it was derelict and our horrified kids
accused us of living in a squat. Although it has taken plenty
of 'blood, sweat and tears', we have now been able to restore
Torrington House to its former glory. By next year the wilderness
at the rear will be transformed into a peaceful oasis where
you may dine al fresco or relax with a book or maybe glass
of wine at 'happy hour'.
Your
house is lovely and if it was possible I would have stolen
your shower…

best place we’ve seen in England...

Torrington House was first registered in
1890 to the local Freemasons - hence all the beautiful stained
glass windows which create beautiful prisms and change colour
from first light to nightfall. Hopefully in due course we
will be able produce a good historical record of the house.
The historic market town of Kingsbridge
is in the centre of the South Hams area of Devon at the head
of a Salcombe tidal estuary. Within a few miles of Kingsbridge
you can be deep in the countryside or on a sandy beach. The
rugged beauty of Dartmoor and the South West Coastal Path
are both a short drive away waiting to be explored and enjoyed
by you.
